It Is What It Is | Speak Faith Over Your Situation

Featured Post Image - It Is What It Is | Speak Faith Over Your Situation

Have you ever looked at a hard situation and thought, “It is what it is”? Many people use that phrase when life feels impossible to change. But rather than settle for what seems unchangeable, you can choose to speak faith over your situation.

But as a believer, you do not have to accept defeat or speak hopelessly over your circumstances. Instead, you can respond with faith, trust God in hard times, and expect Him to move.

When you align your words with God’s promises, you begin to shift your focus from what is to what God can bring to pass. That is exactly what God did when He created the universe.

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, ‘Let there be light’; and there was light.” — Genesis 1:1-3

Don’t Accept Defeat

Before God spoke light into existence, the earth was without form and void, and darkness covered the deep. If God had said, “Wow, it is so dark,” nothing would have changed.

If God had said, “It is what it is,” the universe would have remained dark, and you and I would not be here. Rather than speaking only what He saw, God spoke what He wanted to see.

He wanted light, so God called forth light. He believed that what He said would happen, and it did.

2 Corinthians 4:13 tells us that we have that same spirit of faith. Like God, we are speaking spirits. We can speak faith over our situation.

Since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed, and therefore I spoke,” we should believe and speak as well.

This power of faith enables us to align our words with God’s promises and speak in expectation of change.

We are unlike the rest of creation because God made us in His image and gave us the ability to speak.

In Psalms 82:6, God says the children of the Most High are little gods.

The Creator desires that His children rule and reign in life, and when they face challenges, they do not simply resign themselves to “it is what it is.”

How Jesus Showed Us to Speak Faith

By faith, God spoke galaxies into existence. In the same way, we can speak God’s promises over our lives.

You can face your situation differently by adding words to your faith.

What are you saying about your circumstances? Are you expecting your situation to change for the better?

Your words matter, so speak with hope and optimism.

We see this principle in the life of Jesus. One day, Jesus and His disciples were on the way from Bethany to Jerusalem when Jesus became hungry.

He saw a fig tree in the distance, but when He came to it, He found nothing but leaves.

Jesus cursed the fig tree, saying, “Let no one eat fruit from you ever again.” He did not accept the moment at face value and move on.

Instead, He spoke to the situation.

Speak to Your Situation in Faith

The next day, Jesus and His disciples passed by the fig tree and saw that it had dried up from the roots.

Peter said, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree which You cursed has withered away.”

Jesus answered, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says” (Mark 11).

Jesus was illustrating how faith works together with your words. In addition to believing, you must speak to your situation in alignment with God’s truth.

When you have pain in your body, don’t only repeat what you feel. Call it what you believe God to do. If you go around all day saying, “My back is killing me,” those words can reinforce discouragement.

Instead of talking only about your pain, begin talking about how God delivers and restores. Your intellect may tell you, “Just deal with it.” That is because the natural mind cannot comprehend faith.

Faith believes what it cannot yet see, whereas the natural mind only believes what it can see.

Trust God in Hard Times and Keep Speaking Faith

This same principle appears again in Numbers 21. The Israelites began grumbling against God and Moses. They were discouraged by the difficult terrain and believed they had run out of food and water.

They asked Moses, “Why have you brought us out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? We don’t have any bread, we don’t have any water, and we loathe this worthless bread that God gives us to eat.”

When God heard the people complaining, He instructed Moses to gather them at the well, and He would provide water. But when they came to the well, it was empty.

Then Moses commanded them, “Sing to the well.” Sing, “Spring up, O well.” As they sang, water suddenly began to spring out of the empty well.

The next time you face a situation that seems unchangeable, don’t say, “It is what it is.” Choose faith and keep your focus on God.

Rather than calling it only as it is, call it what you are believing God for. Others may speak hopelessly, but you do not have to surrender your faith.

Keep speaking in line with His promises and expecting Him to move. Stay resilient, stay full of faith, and let God turn your situation into a testimony of what He can do.
