God Renews the Spirit of the Righteous

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 TL

The outward man’s destiny is death. However, God renews the spirit of the righteous daily, reminding us of the eternal nature of our being. When you look at your image in a mirror, you can only see a part of yourself. That’s because you are a spirit but live in a body. The body you are in is a part of you, but it is not who you are. The spirit in your body is the real you. Although invisible to the physical eyes, your spirit is the part of you that will live forever. The inward man loves, believes, hopes, and accomplishes things the outer man cannot do. In this physical realm, nothing can separate the two men but death.

When we renew our minds, we experience transformation (Romans 12:2). Our bodies remind us daily that we are getting older. When you start to feel the aches and pains associated with aging, remember that they are only temporary. While your body may be dying, God is renewing the spirit of the righteous day by day, showing His continuous care and support for us.

Amid the pain, suffering, and troubles of our present day, it is so easy to lose heart. Everything is happening so fast; as soon as we overcome this we have to deal with that. And as soon as we fix that, something goes wrong over there. Whatever you do, remain faithful, always pray, and never lose heart. Do not allow the cares of this life to devour your dreams. God knows where you are and what you are going through. Your light affliction is but for a moment. God says your troubles will not last forever.

Remain Faithful

The Christian must learn to live purposefully, one day at a time. We spend too much time worrying about tomorrow. Our heavenly Father provides for us day by day as we pray. That is why Jesus said we should ask God to “give us our daily bread” when we pray. (Luke 11:3). The scripture says in Deuteronomy 33:25, “As your days, so shall your strength be.” That means that God renews our spirit according to our daily requirements. Our heavenly Father even provides us with divine favor when we ask Him, assuring us of His constant provision and care.

The Bible encourages us to “come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16). This means that we can approach God with confidence, knowing that He is ready to help us in our times of need. Therefore, know that if you are in Christ, you are a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Declare today that God has renewed your spirit so that you can prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.
