“As He is, so are we in this world.”
—1 John 4:17
The Scripture says of Jesus, “As He is, so are we in this world.” People rejected and despised Jesus. Let’s not forget that He was a man of sorrows; therefore, He was well acquainted with grief. When we examine the life of our Lord and Savior, when He walked the earth, no one could have imagined His end. Today, He sits at God’s right hand. To be as He is, while we are in this world, we must take up our cross, as He bore His. If we don’t bear the cross, we will never wear the crown. And unless we walk through the mud, we will never walk the streets paved with gold.
The Scripture says in Ecclesiastes 7:8, “Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof.” To have the same end as Jesus, we must never forget that “as He is, so are we in this world.” When we observe a creeping caterpillar, its appearance is contemptible. The caterpillar is the beginning of a thing. When we observe the gorgeous wings of a butterfly playing in the wind, full of life, that is the end thereof.
Like Him
We must remember that “as He is, so are we in this world.” We are like the caterpillar, until death wraps us up in its cocoon. But when Christ appears, we will be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. Therefore, be content to be like Him, that you may be satisfied when you wake up in His likeness. Jesus is free of anxiety, sickness, disease, and pain. So, the next time that back pain rises in your body, don’t allow your pain to accuse God. Rather, ask yourself: Does Jesus have back pain? Then by faith declare. Jesus does not have back pain, and neither do I. For as He is, so am I in this world.
Heavenly Father, thank You for speaking to my heart and reminding me who I am in You. Help me carry this truth with me throughout today, and let my faith rise above every fear, doubt, and pain. With confidence and gratitude, I declare: as He is, so am I in this world.
