God Saw the Light

“And God saw the light.”
— Genesis 1:4

When we wake each morning and open our eyes, we are greeted by the beauty of light. Imagine Yahweh beholding light for the first time. He looked upon it with pleasure and contentment. Genesis 1:4 tells us that God saw the light and called it good.

Then God divided light from darkness. He set apart what He called good from the surrounding darkness. In Christ, those who believe in Him are also called to live as children of the light.

The Light of God’s Word

The Lord has given us the light of His Word. Through it, we may see clearly in a world marked by darkness and evil. He regards this light with special satisfaction. He created it, and it reflects His own nature—for God is light.

From the beginning, His divine approval declared light to be good. His goodness still shines into the lives of those who belong to Him.

God’s His Grace at Work

It is reassuring to know that God observes the work of grace He has begun in us. He values the treasure He has placed in earthen vessels. At times, we may struggle to recognize that light within ourselves. Yet God sees what His grace is producing.

That knowledge brings comfort. The Judge should see our innocence rather than us relying only on our own sight. Whether or not we feel certain of our place as God’s people, the Lord knows those who are His. He delivers us from the evil one.

Walking in the Light When Daybreak is Coming

If you are feeling sad or your world seems dark, remember this: the Lord sees the light shining in your heart. He is the One who placed it there.

Even when despair feels heavy, seek the Lord’s face. When darkness clouds your thoughts, trust that His grace is still at work within you. He sees what you may not be able to see, and He will sustain you until the day of Christ’s return.

So take heart. The God who first saw the light still sees His light in you, and He will keep it burning until the darkness gives way to day.

Genesis 1:4 reminds us that God not only created the light but also sees the light of grace He has placed within His people. Even in seasons of darkness, His Word gives clarity, His presence brings comfort, and His work in us continues until the day He brings it to completion.
