Hey there! I’m Eric.
Welcome to Believing Faith! I’m so glad you’re here and taking the time to join me. It means a lot. Thanks for stopping by!
Believing Faith is a blog dedicated to exploring the concept of faith for individuals seeking to deepen their relationship with God. Although faith is a common theme within Christianity, its interpretation can vary significantly from one person to another. This blog aims to share insights and knowledge about faith, providing a platform for exploring and discussing the subject. For example, we will explore topics like what it means to fight the good fight of faith, how healing works according to your faith, and more.
I am eager to share my thoughts. But before delving into these discussions, I would like to share a bit about myself.
My Early Life

I was born in New Orleans in 1951, the second of ten siblings. I grew up in Bunche Village, a small community in Jefferson Parish, and was raised by my great-uncle and great-aunt, whom I consider my parents. They instilled a sense of faith through Bible stories, such as those of David and Goliath, and Samson and Delilah, and taught me to pray. These experiences, combined with the close-knit community of Bunche Village, have profoundly shaped my understanding of God’s love and grace.
I began my piano journey at the age of five, and by ten, I was already captivating my Sunday School class with my music. My passion quickly evolved, leading me to play organ for the church choir, where I honed my skills even further. Recognizing the power of music in my life, I decided to pursue a career in this field. In 1969, I took a significant step by joining “the City News Band,” a renowned local group in New Orleans. Joining the band marked the exhilarating start of my professional career as a keyboardist.

Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to collaborate with prominent artists and bands, record my own music, and produce works for other musicians. My musical journey has enabled me to travel across various regions of America, fostering a deeper appreciation for diverse cultures and faiths.
My Adult Life
In 1980, after six years in a committed relationship, I married and became a father to three beautiful children—a handsome son and two beautiful daughters. Being a husband and a father was a tremendous blessing, that is, until I began exploring the world of drugs. That’s when I fell in love with something that did not love me back: crack cocaine. My love affair with crack cocaine lasted for twelve years. I tried to break free, but to no avail. In the tenth year of my addiction, I lost my family. It was a devastating blow to my heart.
In 1993, I experienced a profound deliverance from the devastating grip of crack cocaine addiction. By 2000, I found the courage to remarry, and for the first time in seven years, I felt a deep sense of belonging and hope.
However, in 2004, my world was shattered once more when I lost my beloved son to a tragic act of violence. The pain of his murder, compounded by the fact that his killer was never brought to justice, was an unimaginable heartache that I continue to carry.
Then, in 2005, I faced another daunting challenge when Hurricane Katrina ravaged my home city, my beloved New Orleans.
The devastation was overwhelming, but my faith in God helped me find the strength to start anew. This resilience in the face of loss is my testimony of the power of faith and a reminder that we can overcome even the most difficult circumstances.
Why I Write
That day in 1993 when God set me free from my addiction to crack cocaine changed my life, inspiring me to start this blog and write the book Believing Faith Speaks | Speak, Activate, Feed, Exercise, and Work Your Faith. In my book, I share the good news of faith through personal testimony, uncovering insightful truths in the Bible that detail how to speak God’s Word over your life for miraculous results.
When Jesus delivered the demon-possessed man from Gadara, He said,
“Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you and how he has had mercy on you.”
Mark 5:19 [NIV]
I write because God has given me back my freedom.
This story has been the basis for my writing about faith, a common topic with numerous definitions. Like the Gadarene man, I was an ordinary individual, living an ordinary life until Satan intervened. And like the man from Gadara, I’m just a nobody, trying to tell everybody about somebody who can save, deliver, and heal anybody.
