After Spring: Learning to Trust God in the In-Between

Featured Post Image - After Spring: Learning to Trust God in the In-Between

After reflecting on winter and spring seasons in the life of the believer, I wanted to pause before moving toward summer and learn to trust God in the in-between. Winter reminds us that God is present in waiting, weakness, and hidden work. Spring shows us that the Lord can renew what has grown weary and bring life where barrenness once seemed to remain.

Yet between renewal and full fruitfulness, there is often an in-between season. It is a tender place where hope has begun to rise, but everything has not yet come into fullness. In that space, we learn to trust God in the in-between.

Trusting God in the In-Between

Many believers know this place well. You may no longer feel buried beneath the cold weight of winter. Still, you may not yet feel steady in a fruitful season. This is often where trusting God in transition begins.

There may be signs of life alongside lingering questions. Encouragement may sit beside fragility. Growth may still require daily trust. This transition matters because spiritual renewal rarely becomes instant maturity. Instead, it teaches us to trust God in the in-between.

The Lord often brings us forward gradually. He teaches us to depend on Him while new life is still forming. In that process, He shapes spiritual growth in waiting.

The Grace of Gradual Growth

One lesson I’ve learned from spring is that growth takes time. Flowers do not bloom the moment the ground softens. Fruit does not appear the moment a branch begins to bud.

In the same way, God’s work in us often unfolds slowly. We may want quick transformation, clear answers, and immediate strength. But the Lord lovingly shapes us through the process.

He tends the soil of our hearts. He strengthens what is weak and cultivates what will last.

Slow growth is not a sign that God is absent. It is often evidence of His patience and care. The Bible reminds us that the One who began a good work in us will carry it on to completion. That promise gives us courage in the in-between. We do not have to force growth or pretend we are further along than we are. We can receive each small evidence of grace with gratitude and trust that the Lord is still at work.

When Renewal Still Feels Fragile

Sometimes the first signs of spiritual renewal feel fragile. A returning desire to pray may be small. Hope may feel like a flicker rather than a flame. Faith may be present, yet mingled with questions.

In these moments, we may dismiss what God is doing. It may not yet look strong or complete. But the Lord does not despise small beginnings, even when faith during uncertainty feels fragile.

He is gentle with bruised reeds and dimly burning wicks. He knows how to strengthen what He has awakened.

If you are in this tender place, take heart. You do not have to rush beyond the pace of grace. The Lord is not impatient with your weakness or disappointed by your need. He invites you to keep coming to Him with honest prayers, open hands, and a willing heart. The same God who preserved you in winter and renewed you in spring will lead you forward with wisdom and love.

Preparing for the Next Season with God

The transition after spring invites us to ask a quiet question: How is God preparing me for what comes next? For some, He prepares through renewed strength. At other times, He deepens our roots before increasing our fruit.

In other seasons, He may teach us to abide more closely in Christ. As a result, the next season can flow from dependence on Him, not from striving in our own strength.

Because of this, the in-between is not wasted. Instead, it can become a holy place of preparation. The Lord may use it to shape our desires, refine our expectations, and teach us to walk with Him in steadier faith.

Even when we do not yet see the fullness of what He is growing, we can trust the Gardener. After all, Jesus reminds us that apart from Him we can do nothing. Therefore, as we abide in Him, we can trust Him to bear much fruit in His time.

The fruit belongs to Him. Our calling is to remain near.

A Prayer for the In-Between

Lord, thank You for meeting us in every season. Thank You for sustaining us through winter and renewing us in spring. Help us trust You in the in-between, especially in the tender places where growth has begun but is not yet complete.

Teach us not to rush the work of grace. Strengthen what is weak. Deepen what is rooted in You. Help us keep waiting on the Lord as You prepare our hearts for whatever season comes next.

May we remain in Christ, receive Your grace, and walk forward with quiet confidence in Your faithfulness. Amen.

God Is Faithful in Every Transition

As this series continues, may this pause after spring remind us that God is faithful in every transition. He is faithful in the waiting, faithful in the renewing, and faithful in the becoming.

Whatever season you are walking through today, you can rest in this truth: the Lord knows how to complete what He has begun in His timing.
