“The Lord said to me, ‘Go, show your love to your wife again, though she is loved by another man and is an adulteress. Love her as the Lord loves the Israelites, though they turn to other gods and love the sacred raisin cakes.’”
— Hosea 3:1

The Lord’s Faithful Love in Hosea 3:1

The love of the Lord is deeper and more faithful than we often realize. With this truth in view, this devotional from Hosea 3 explores God’s love for us within the historical setting of the Book of Hosea.

For example, when I look back, I see how He has carried me through sorrow. Through it all, He has kept me by His mercy and remained steadfast in every season.

Therefore, take a moment to reflect on your life. Then, begin to meditate on the Lord’s love. In particular, think about how Jesus carried the cross, and what it means to follow Him.

As you reflect, consider how He has guided you by His providence. Likewise, remember how He provided your daily bread and showed patience in your weakness and wandering.

Ultimately, let this devotional inspire you to reflect on how the Lord has sustained you. Indeed, He provides, forgives, and leads His people with grace. Thus, He is a faithful Shepherd through every trial.

The Love of God for All Your Tomorrows

Consider the love of the Lord for all your tomorrows. Christ’s mercy covers your past and meets you in the present. It remains sure for the future because His covenant love does not fail.

The Lord goes before you and remains with you to the very end. Even in the valley, you need not fear. Not even death can separate you from His love.

“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
— Romans 8:38–39

Responding to the Lord’s Love

In response, take one final moment to reflect: Has your love for Jesus been renewed? If so, let His everlasting love draw you to trust Him more fully. Then, rest in His grace more freely, and walk more closely with Him each day.

Dear God, thank You for Your unfailing love. You have pursued me, sustained me, and held me fast in Christ. Keep me near to Your heart and deepen my love for You. Strengthen my trust in You, and teach me to rest in Your grace day by day. Amen.
