Trust God’s Provision When You Do Not Have Enough

When life feels uncertain and resources seem too small, trusting God’s provision can feel hard. Today’s Scripture: 1 Kings 17:8-16

Elijah had proclaimed a drought, and King Ahab wanted him dead. So the Lord sent him to the Brook Cherith, where ravens brought him food and the brook gave him water. Even in a dry season, God’s provision did not fail.

When the brook dried up, God sent Elijah to Zarephath, where a widow would care for him. Elijah asked her for water and bread, setting the stage for a powerful picture of God’s provision in a time of need.

The widow explained that she had only a handful of flour and a little oil left—just enough for one final meal for herself and her son.

Elijah told her not to fear but to obey God’s word first. She did, and her household had food for many days. Her flour and oil did not run out. It is a clear picture of trusting God’s provision when circumstances seem impossible.

Faith That Obeys Before It Sees

Trusting God’s provision means walking by faith instead of by sight. Elijah trusted God’s unusual care, and the widow obeyed even in uncertainty. Both experienced God’s provision in the middle of famine.
