Prayer for Unforgiveness: Release Hurt and Find Peace

Do you struggle with unforgiveness and find it hard to forgive someone who hurt, betrayed, disappointed, or mistreated you? This prayer for unforgiveness can help you bring that burden before God. Unforgiveness can disturb your peace, strain your relationships, and weaken your spiritual well-being. Therefore, bring your pain honestly to God. Ask Him for the grace to release resentment, forgive, heal, and move forward in freedom.

Release Your Hurt and Find Peace

Heavenly Father, I come before You and humbly ask for mercy, grace, and help. As I offer this prayer for unforgiveness, forgive me for allowing bitterness, anger, strife, animosity, resentment, pride, or judgment to remain in my heart.

Ephesians 4:31–32 says,

“Put away bitterness and anger, and forgive others as God forgave you in Christ.

Forgive me for replaying old wounds, speaking harshly about those who hurt me, or wishing harm on anyone. Then, cleanse my heart and renew my mind. Remove every root of bitterness. Instead, fill me with Your love, compassion, patience, and peace.

Lord Jesus, heal my wounds. Restore what has been broken. Comfort me in my grief, and free me from the past. Above all, help me forgive as You forgave me. I cannot do this alone, so strengthen me through Your Holy Spirit. At the same time, teach me to set wise boundaries without hatred. Help me remember without letting pain control me. Finally, lead me forward without resentment.

Therefore, I surrender every offense to You, Lord. I trust You to bring justice, correction, restoration, and healing in Your perfect way and time. Meanwhile, guard my heart against bitterness. When painful memories return, help me choose forgiveness again. Then, fill me with peace. Guide my words and actions. In this way, let my life testify to Your mercy and grace.

Luke 6:27–28 says,

“Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you.”

Today, I choose to forgive everyone who has wronged, hurt, betrayed, rejected, cursed, deceived, disappointed, or harmed me. I release the debt I believe they owe me. Today, I place every painful memory, offense, and injustice in Your hands. I reject bitterness, anger, resentment, revenge, and hatred. Instead, bless them, heal them, draw them closer to You, and fulfill Your perfect will in their lives.

Thank You, Father, for hearing my prayer, forgiving my sins, and freeing my heart. I receive Your healing. I choose love, and I bless those who hurt me. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
