“Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven.” Now this, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain.” — Hebrews 12:26-27
In Hebrews 12:26, God declares that He will shake not only the earth but also the heavens. This is more than a dramatic image. It is a warning and a promise. Everything that can be shaken will be shaken, but what is rooted in God will remain. In seasons of upheaval, God tests faith through shaking to expose what is temporary so we can hold more tightly to what is eternal.
What cannot be shaken is grounded in God’s truth—His love, His promises, and His salvation. These are the only secure foundations for life. When everything around you feels unstable, you can still stand firm by trusting what God has spoken. His truth does not move.
God has chosen those who trust Him and called them into His light. As 1 Peter 2:9 reminds us, we are a royal priesthood and a holy nation, set apart to declare His praises. That identity matters in times of shaking because it reminds us who we are and to whom we belong.
Unshakable Faith
Shakable things are the parts of life that change without warning. Money, success, comfort, and public opinion can all shift quickly. When we build our security on unstable things, fear and disappointment follow. God uses these moments to reveal where we placed our trust and call us back to Him.
Many people build their lives on things that can change—economic conditions, politics, careers, relationships, and social approval. None of these can provide lasting stability. Only God can. To endure life’s shaking, stay rooted in Him and refuse to let the enemy weaken your faith. Be like a palm tree: able to bend in the storm without breaking.
Unshakable Salvation
God still speaks today through His Son, His Word, and His work in the world. The question is whether we are listening. God judged people at Mount Sinai for refusing His voice. How much more should we respond with faith now that we live under the grace of the New Covenant?
You are not standing at Mount Sinai in fear. You are standing at the foot of the cross, trusting in the finished work of Jesus Christ. Because of that, your salvation cannot be shaken. Markets may rise and fall, and circumstances may change, but your position as a child of God remains secure.
Nothing Can Separate Us from the Love of Christ
Another blessing that cannot be shaken is the love of Christ. No trial, loss, persecution, or hardship can separate you from His love. Because you belong to Him, you do not have to live in fear. Stand with confidence, knowing that the power of darkness cannot undo what Christ has secured for you.
Jesus Christ gives us the unshakable gift of salvation. In a world filled with alarming headlines and constant change, that truth matters more than ever. Salvation remains steady when everything else feels uncertain. It is God’s reminder that even in chaos, His rescue is real and His promises still stand.
Jesus rescued you from sin and eternal separation from God, and He remains your strength in every battle you face. By faith and patience, keep standing firm through difficult times. When the world feels unstable, remember this truth: only things that cannot be shaken will remain.
