Following Christ is like walking. Sometimes we misstep. But Jude 24 is a reminder that God can keep you from stumbling, as He can keep His people from falling and bring them safely into His presence with joy.
Because the Lord saves, keeps, and satisfies, believers can walk through temptation with confidence and no fear of trouble. He preserves His people from soul-damaging error and from surrendering to temptation. His power makes us stand firm, blameless, and secure by grace.
In one sense, the path to heaven is safe because God watches over His people. In another sense, it is full of dangers and difficulties. Without grace, one misplaced step would bring us down. Yet God keeps us steady on this narrow road. Left to ourselves, we would soon lose heart, but He is faithful to sustain us.
God Can Keep You from Stumbling
We are like children taking our first steps on the road of faith toward heaven. Our knees often feel unsteady. Our weakness quickly reminds us how much we need the Lord.
Even on the smoothest stretches, we grow tired. Even small troubles can shake us. But God is faithful to keep us steady.
The road to heaven is rough, and we are weak. In addition, our enemy, the devil, waits in ambush and rushes upon us when we least expect him. But even against such an enemy, our God can guard our steps.
Think how prone we are to sin, how easily we drift, and how strong temptation can be. Our heavenly Father watches over us day by day. If you trust Him, God will hold your hand and keep you from stumbling into danger, pride, and self-righteousness.
Praise God today for His grace, mercy, and steadfast love, and rest your heart in this sweet assurance: He can keep you from stumbling and bring you safely into His presence with joy.
