“They will not be afraid of bad news.
They are confident because they trust in the Lord.”
— Psalm 112:7 ERV

If you love God, you will trust Him. People who know their God have no fear of trouble. If you are fearful of evil, how are you different from those who do not know God? Others do not have our great and marvelous God to run to in times of trouble. They have never tasted His goodness or the power of His Word. That is why they are overcome with fear when trouble comes.

But we, as believers, are of another spirit. We have been born again into the family of Yahweh. Our heart’s desire is for heavenly things and not for the things of this earth that are passing away. Fear does not preoccupy our hearts as it does the unbelieving person. If it does, you should question whether you are Jesus’ disciple, and not just a member of a Church.

Bad News

At the sound of bad news, the ungodly murmur and rebel against God. But People who know their God have no fear of bad news, for God does not give a fearful spirit but a spirit of love (2 Timothy 1:7). Moreover, unbelievers often resort to wrong means to escape trouble. When trouble arises, you must trust in the Lord, wait patiently for Him, and do as Moses did at the Red Sea: “Stand still and see the salvation of God.”

Throughout the day, magnify the Lord and have no fear of trouble; if you do, you will be unable to meet the situation with that calm composure that prepares you for spiritual warfare and sustains you under adversity. How can you glorify God if you play the coward? Therefore, take courage and have confidence in the faithfulness of our covenant God. “Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
