God Is Our Strength in Trouble

“God is our refuge and strength A present help in trouble.”
— Psalm 46:1 NKJV

God is our strength when trouble comes. Throughout the Bible, God tells His people, “Do not be afraid.” He says this because He wants you to know something important: you are not facing your distress alone. God wants you to know He is always there to help you.

God Is Near When Trouble Comes

When setbacks come, it can feel as if God is far away. Maybe you have felt that way before. But don’t lose heart; things are not always as they appear. God is our strength, and God is a very present help. You can trust that He is with you and ready to help.

So keep believing that He is the Lord our Righteousness and that you have been made righteous in Him. Trust Him in the middle of your dilemma. He can deliver you from the power of darkness. Instead of focusing on how big your problem is, take a moment to remember how big your God is.

Think back to the times when God stepped into your situation. Maybe you thought all hope was gone, but He came through for you. God sees you right now, too. Even when the odds seem impossible, He knows how to come to your aid when you need Him.

God Is Our Refuge and Strength

“God is our refuge and strength. A present help in trouble.” That is a powerful promise. God is not only a place of safety where you can run. He is also the strength you need when trouble feels heavy.

Jesus Sees You in the Storm

Think about the disciples crossing the Sea of Galilee. They were caught in a terrible storm, and the situation looked dangerous. If Jesus had not come to help them, that storm could have taken their lives.

The Bible says Jesus was on the mountain praying. From there, He looked down and saw the disciples struggling to row their boat in the middle of the sea. They had been rowing for hours, yet they had only reached the halfway point of their journey.

Can you imagine how afraid they must have been? I’m sure they thought they might not make it through the storm. But in their darkest hour, Jesus walked on the sea to save them.

Present Help in Trouble

The Bible says Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). That means the same Jesus who saw the disciples in the storm sees you too. Friend, Jesus loves you, and He will never let you down.

The Lord is and always will be our refuge and strength. He was present to help the disciples when they needed Him. And He will be present to help you when you need Him too.

So don’t be afraid. God is our strength in trouble, and He sees you in your storm. Settle it in your heart that you will believe the word of God. With God, all things are possible if you will only believe.

A Prayer for Strength in Trouble

Before you move on, take a quiet moment to bring your worries to God and ask Him to strengthen your heart.

Father, thank You for being my refuge and strength in every storm. Help me trust You, remember that You are with me, and believe You will carry me through. In Jesus’ name, amen.
