Do not worry about tomorrow. Five words are so easy to utter yet very hard to do. The devil would like to see you stressed out and make stress the subject of your day. He gets great joy from seeing you fearful. But with prices and wages going down and so much to fear, you might ask, “How can I not worry?”
It doesn’t matter where you live or how well you are financially; you must admit that we live in stressful times. It seems the price of everything is skyrocketing while our jobs and wages keep plummeting. Our months last longer than our money, And we constantly fear for our lives. Yet, the Bible tells us that we should not worry about anything. Listen to what Jesus said,
“Therefore, do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things”
Matthew 6:31-32
There ought to be a discernible difference between how the world reacts to a crisis and how God’s people respond to the same crises. Jesus said, “For after all these things the Gentiles seek.” The implication here is that everybody has needs, but the people of God react differently. Why? For we walk by faith and not by sight.
You Are Blessed, Not Stressed
Can you be blessed and still be stressed? Absolutely! God knows how much we stress and what we lack. But He wants us to receive His blessings rather than focus on our stress. Jesus can say, “Do not worry,” because He has walked in our shoes. When Jesus walked the earth, He was homeless, yet He never worried because He had faith that God would provide all of His needs.
You are God’s righteousness. That means you have God’s blessings, and God has not forgotten about you. Psalm 37:22-25 says it this way:
“For those blessed by Him shall inherit the earth. But those cursed by Him shall be cut off. The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. Though he falls, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with His hand. I have been young, and now I am old, Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his descendants begging bread.”
Psalm 37:22-25
Whenever the temptation to worry arises, remind yourself that you are righteous by faith in Jesus Christ, and God upholds the righteous with His hand. God has not forsaken you.
So, whatever your lack is today, be encouraged to know that God already knows and He’s got your back. And it’s all because He loves you and knows you by name. So today, do not worry! Have faith in God, and everything will be alright.
