“Let us not get tired of doing what is right, for after a while we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t get discouraged and give up.”
— Galatians 6:9 [TLB]
Perseverance in Doing Good
One of the best pieces of advice my parents ever gave me was simple: “Do the right thing.” They often reminded me, “If you do the right thing, God will always reward you.” I remembered those words in high school when I was tempted to cheat on a science exam.
Choosing Integrity When It Is Hard
Copying someone else’s answers would have been easier. But my parents’ counsel echoed in my mind, and I chose honesty instead. By God’s grace, I passed with a 94.
More than a grade, that moment taught me an important lesson. Christian integrity is not just about one decision. It is a lifelong commitment that shapes how we live.
As someone who strives to live according to my faith and as God’s chosen servant, I see every challenge as an opportunity to honor God and trust His guidance.
Choosing what is right is not always easy. It often requires courage, discipline, and humility. Yet when we choose integrity, we gain lasting peace. We also build trust with others and strengthen our witness.
Over time, doing the right thing became a guiding principle in many areas of my life. I saw it in simple moments, like returning extra change at a store. I saw it in harder moments, like standing up for someone treated unfairly or admitting a mistake at work.
Each experience reminded me that integrity matters most when no one is watching. These moments are not isolated events. They are daily opportunities to live out our faith, honor God, and encourage others through our example.
Everyday Choices and the Lasting Impact of Integrity
Integrity is often tested in small, ordinary moments. After edging the lawn or working in the garden, I usually head inside for a cool drink.
Before opening the refrigerator, I am tempted to wash my hands at the kitchen sink because it is closest. My wife prefers that I use another sink. Sometimes I forget. Other times, I simply do not feel like walking farther.
But in those moments, I hear my mother’s voice again: “Do the right thing.”
That may seem like a small matter. But small choices reveal the direction of the heart. Honoring the house rules is one simple way I practice integrity at home.
In the same way, our daily decisions to do good reflect our faith and values. We may not always receive immediate recognition. But every act of obedience helps shape our character and shows others that we can be trusted.
God Sees Every Faithful Choice
Galatians 6:9 encourages us not to grow tired of doing what is right. Perseverance in doing good produces a harvest in due season.
This is true at home, at work, in relationships, and in our walk with God. We may not see the results immediately, but God sees every faithful choice.
So let us keep doing the right thing. We can trust that His blessing comes at the proper time.
Today, dear Lord, I declare that I will not grow tired of doing the right thing. Help me choose integrity when no one is watching. Help me persevere in doing good and live in a way that glorifies You.
