“The Lord has revealed our Righteousness. Come, and let us declare in Zion, the work of the Lord, our God.” — Jeremiah 23:6
“The Lord Our Righteousness” is the name God reveals in Jeremiah 23:6—a truth that calls us to trust His finished work and rest in His grace.
Resting in Christ’s Righteousness
The Lord our righteousness is more than a title in Jeremiah 23:6. It is the foundation of our confidence in Christ. When we fix our thoughts on His righteousness, we find peace and freedom from fear. Many believers struggle because they hear the enemy’s voice more often than God’s truth.
Finding Peace Through His Righteousness

Scripture warns us about Satan’s schemes. One of his tactics is to shift our focus from the Lord our righteousness, to self-righteousness. He does not want us to rest in the truth that God has already accepted us and made us righteous through Christ. Instead, he tempts us to establish our own righteousness rather than submit to God’s righteousness (Romans 10:3).
The devil often speaks through our own thoughts: “You don’t deserve that,” “You will never reach your goal,” or “You’re too old to get that degree.” But he is a liar, so we do not have to listen. When believers know they are already complete in Christ, they are less vulnerable to discouragement and fear.
Hearing God’s Truth Above Every Lie
One morning, before I had spent time in prayer, I turned on the news and let the weight of the world fill my mind. The constant reports of violence, corruption, and evil left me feeling unsettled and discouraged.
But I quickly recognized what was happening and changed my thoughts. I declared, “The Lord is my righteousness. Therefore, I am the righteousness of God in Christ. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for me, that I might become the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Corinthians 5:21).
When we fix our eyes on corruption and failure, it is easy to feel defeated. But when we remember that the Lord is our righteousness, we are freed from looking to ourselves for what only Christ can provide.
Finding Assurance in Christ
Friend, the Lord is your righteousness, and in Him all is made right. God says, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” When you feel inadequate, return to what God says about you. You are already complete in Christ Jesus.
Rejoicing in the Righteousness of God in Christ
Christ has done it all. Nothing is left for us to do but believe. On the cross, Jesus declared, “It is finished.” Because of Him, I am complete. I can rejoice knowing that the Lord our righteousness secured what I could never earn. My righteousness is not from the law, but through faith in Christ—the righteousness of God by faith.
If your world feels like it is crashing down today, trust that Jesus will deliver you. Have faith that He can free you from fear, depression, addiction, or simply carry you through a difficult day.
Lord Jesus, I rest in You alone for my deliverance. When I feel unworthy, remind me that my righteousness is found in You, not in my works. Thank You for saving me by grace through faith and for giving me peace, hope, and confidence in Christ. Father, thank You for the gift of Your Son, the Lord our righteousness. Amen.
