This morning, I have a special request for my readers: pray for one another. Paul urged believers to remember him and his fellow workers in prayer (1 Thessalonians 5:25). His appeal still speaks to the church today. Scripture calls believers to intercessory prayer, especially in seasons of spiritual conflict and discouragement.
Believers face spiritual opposition, and those who minister the Word especially need faithful prayer support. The more we uphold them before the Lord, the more the church benefits from their labor.
When we lift fellow believers in prayer, we remember those who labor to nourish God’s people with His Word. This nourishment is spiritual meat, bread, and drink for the soul.
Christian bloggers, writers, pastors, and teachers serve in this work. They need the prayers of fellow believers. Through their work, they encourage, instruct, and strengthen the body of Christ.
As Christians, we are called to pray for each other. As servants and soldiers in Christ’s army, we often face resistance from both the world and the unseen forces of evil. The enemy seeks to discourage, distract, and silence the work of God. That is why believers must stand together in prayer, asking the Lord to strengthen one another with grace, wisdom, and perseverance.
Brotherly Love
Our calling to pray for one another is one of the clearest expressions of brotherly love. Often, prayer draws us away from our own concerns so that we can stand in the gap for our brothers and sisters in Christ.
It is the will of our heavenly Father that we care for one another. We do this through faithful prayer, and we exhort one another in love.
The apostle Paul did not consider it beneath him to ask the church in Thessalonica to pray for him and his fellow laborers. That humble request reminds us that every member of the body of Christ needs prayer. When believers intercede for one another, they strengthen the church, support spiritual leaders, and demonstrate the love of Christ in practical ways.
Admonish Each Other
To admonish one another in Scripture means to counsel, warn, and instruct with love and truth. The Greek word translated “admonish” is noutheteo, which carries the sense of placing truth on someone’s mind.
One way believers do this faithfully is through prayer. As we pray for one another, we ask God to correct, strengthen, and guide His people according to His Word.
Paul gives a practical picture of this loving correction and encouragement in 1 Thessalonians 5:14.
Today, I want to remind my fellow believers in Christ to carry one another before the Lord. Prayer, encouragement, and biblical counsel belong together in the life of the church.
When believers pray for one another, the church grows stronger in love, unity, and perseverance. Intercessory prayer is not a small duty. It is a vital ministry that supports pastors, encourages weary saints, and keeps our hearts fixed on Christ. May we gladly lift one another in prayer and remain faithful before the Lord.
