Good Receivers: How to Receive from God by Faith

Featured Post Image - Good Receivers: How to Receive from God by Faith

As Colossians 2:6-7 gently reminds us, having received Christ Jesus the Lord, we are called to continue in Him—rooted in His love, strengthened by faith, and overflowing with thankfulness. To receive is to humbly welcome what we could never earn by our own strength. The earth receives the rain, the sea receives the streams, and the night receives light from the moon and stars. In the same way, we open our hearts to the grace God so freely pours out through Jesus Christ.

The heart of a believer is like an empty vessel, gently lifted before the Lord and waiting to be filled with the living water of His Spirit. We come to Him not relying on our own strength, but with quiet trust, open hearts, and a willing spirit to receive His word. Christ is never far from the soul that believes. Through faith, He draws near, makes His love known, and fills the heart with His peace.

How to Receive from God by Faith

Before faith awakens in the heart, Jesus may seem distant, known only by name or remembered through history. But when the Spirit gently opens our eyes, we begin to behold Him as He truly is—living, gracious, and near. In that sacred awakening, Christ becomes precious to us, and the heart finds its rest in the comfort of His presence.

When we receive Jesus by faith, we welcome the Father’s most precious gift. In Him we find our Savior, our peace, our hope, and our salvation. To receive from God by faith is to rest quietly in His word, trust the tenderness of His promises, and hold fast to the grace He has so lovingly poured out through His beloved Son.

Receive the Gift of Salvation

Salvation is far more than rescue from earthly trouble. When we receive Jesus by faith, we receive forgiveness for sin, peace for the weary heart, hope for every season, and the precious promise of eternal life. Let us, then, draw near to the Lord with humble hearts, ready to receive from God by faith, rooted more deeply in Christ, strengthened by His truth, and overflowing with quiet thankfulness for the grace He so freely gives.

Lord Jesus, teach us to receive from You with humble hearts and steadfast faith. Root us more deeply in Your love, strengthen us by Your truth, and fill us with thankful hearts that rest in Your grace. Amen.
