“You are My Servant, I have chosen you and have not cast you away.”
— Isaiah 41:9
You are God’s chosen servant, so you can begin this day with confidence and peace. Isaiah 41:8-10 says that God has chosen you and has not cast you away. Matthew Henry’s Commentary on Isaiah 41 describes this passage as a comfort to God’s chosen servants.
When God places His grace in your heart, He calls you to serve Him. You may serve imperfectly or unfaithfully at times; nevertheless, you remain His servant, chosen to serve Him.
You wear His name, feed at His table, and obey His commands. Although sin once enslaved you, God has brought you into His family.
God calls you not only servant, but His chosen servant—“You are my servant; I have chosen you.” This is not just a title but a privilege that sets you apart.
Why You Are God’s Chosen Servant
Chosen by Grace
God gives grace to the humble. You serve God only because of grace, for you were not always His servant. God chose you before you chose Him, and He called you to serve Him.
The sovereign God of creation called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. He declared, “I have chosen you.”
Before the beginning of time or space, God wrote your name upon His heart. Before God hung the stars in the sky, He conformed you to the image of His Son, and He ordained you to be an heir to the fullness of His love, grace, and glory.
Oh, how awesome is the love of God! He has chosen you. You are God’s chosen servant, and you serve Him.
Kept by God’s Faithfulness
He knew how stiff-necked you were. He understood that your heart was evil, yet He chose to love you. Our God is unlike us in every way.
God does not cast us away when we act unfaithfully. His faithfulness is unwavering. Because He remains faithful, He says, “I have chosen you, and I have not cast you away.” Our God is faithful. If you trust Him, He will deliver you, for you are God’s chosen servant. He will love you forever and never forsake you.
Lord, thank You for choosing me and for never casting me away. Help me walk in Your grace, trust in Your faithfulness, and serve You with a willing heart today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
