When things look hopeless, don’t panic; look to Jesus, and you will find comfort in the calm. Turn your eyes away from yourself and focus on Jesus. Satan will try to make you look at yourself rather than Christ. When Satan shows up, he will tell you that your sins are too numerous for God to pardon. Satan will tell you that you don’t pray enough and you never repent; you are not holy enough. Satan knows that if he can keep you looking at yourself, you will never see Jesus.

When the Holy Spirit communicates with us, His message is clear: “Look to Jesus.” He redirects our gaze away from ourselves, reminding us that alone, we are insignificant, but with Christ, we are significant. The Holy Spirit reassures us that God has forgiven our sins and is not wrathful towards us. He reminds us that in our weakness, we find strength; when we feel incapable, we can accomplish all things through Christ, our strength. He affirms that all things are achievable if we fix our eyes on Jesus.

Allow the Lord to Hold Your Hand

The old hymn says, “Hold to God’s unchanging hand.” But we are saved from destruction not because we are holding God’s hand but because He is holding ours. Remember, it is not your hold of Christ that saves you—it is Christ. By contemplating this, you remember the importance of looking to Jesus, not just to your own strength. The Holy Spirit conveys the message that you should not look at yourself, not even your hand that is in Christ’s hand. You should not look to your faith but to Jesus, the source of your faith; you should not look to your hope but to Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith (Hebrews 12:2).

We will never find happiness by focusing on things that we do for God. It is not who we are but who Jesus is that gives rest to our souls. If you want to overcome Satan and have peace with God, looking to Jesus is the only way. When we look to Jesus, He keeps us in perfect tranquility.

Focus

Keep your focus on Jesus. Let His death, sufferings, resurrection, and intercession be a constant presence in your mind. Every moment can be a chance to look to Jesus and refocus your mind on Him. When you wake in the morning, turn to Jesus. When you lie down at night, turn to Him. Let nothing come between you and Jesus. If you pursue Him with all your heart, He will never disappoint you. Build your hope on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.

When you want spiritual guidance, look to Jesus. Let His presence and teachings guide your heart and mind. Keep your focus on Jesus. Let His death, sufferings, resurrection, and intercession be a constant presence in your mind. When you wake in the morning, turn to Jesus. Let nothing come between you and Jesus. If you pursue Him with all your heart, He will never disappoint you. Build your hope on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.

Heavenly Father, when trouble arises in my life, help me to look to Jesus. You promised to keep my mind at peace when I focus on you. Hold my hand when I am afraid. I ask that You strengthen my faith because my faith is in You. Today, I anticipate miracles will rain down on me, for today, my eyes are fixed on You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
