No matter what challenges you are facing, God will provide a solution. He has promised to smooth every obstacle, whether it’s a valley of despair, a mountain of difficulty, a crooked path of confusion, or a rough place of hardship. Are you feeling defeated or struggling to reach your dreams? Don’t worry. You have the assurance of God’s presence. He is with you wherever you go. Our God is a way maker. Our heavenly Father has pledged to clear the path for you, and if He said it, He will do it.

As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, says, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord; make His paths straight. Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill brought low; the crooked places shall be made straight, and the rough ways smooth; and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.’
— Luke 3:4-6 NKJV

Preparing the Way for God to Make a Way for You

The voice crying in the wilderness demanded a way for the Lord and that a way be prepared. And that way was to be prepared in the wilderness. We need only give Him a way into our hearts, and our God will make a way. God wants to spring forth abundant water in the dry places of your life.

John the Baptist prepared the way of the Lord by warning everyone to “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” He is the one spoken of through the prophet Isaiah: “A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.’”

God will keep His promise and always make way for us, but He also wants us to change our minds about Him. The word “repent” does not only mean you should turn away from sin, but also means you should change your mind about God. Give your attention to the following four areas of Luke 3:4-6, and God will make a way for you, no matter the situation or circumstance.

1. Fill Every Valley

Therefore, let us prepare a way for the Lord by changing our thoughts concerning Him. For too long, we have thought of God as a taskmaster, a hard man (Matthew 25:24), always ready to whack us over the head whenever we miss the mark. But this is not who our God is. Let us do away with the old “thou shall not” attitude by developing a new attitude of “grace.” God’s grace will supply you with everything you need to accomplish any task. His grace will give you strength when you are weak. God’s grace will lift you when you are down.

That is why we must exalt every valley and do away with every low and ominous thought of our loving heavenly Father. It is possible to believe and still have unbelief. Ask the Lord to help your unbelief. We must remove doubt and despair, along with self-seeking and fleshly pleasures. Across our deep valleys, we must learn to submit to God, for He gives grace to the humble.

2. Level Every Mountain

Everyone has hills and mountains to climb. One of the most prominent mountains that we all face in our lives is Mount Pride. Pride prevents us from receiving from the Lord. We must topple our pride and boastful self-righteousness and make a highway for the King of kings.

God never grants divine fellowship to supercilious, high-minded evildoers. Proverbs 11:2 says, “When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. Therefore, let us begin preparing the way for the Lord by entering into divine fellowship with Him. If we humble ourselves and pray, God will make a way. He will heal our land and forgive our sins. And we shall be His people, and He shall be our God (2 Chronicles 7:14).

Our Lord is loving and kind. He cares for the humble and visits the repentant heart. Let us resist a proud spirit, for proud people are an abomination to the Lord. Let us pray that the Holy Spirit will set our hearts right concerning our pride, that we may employ humility and receive God’s wisdom. Doing this will ensure that God will make a way when there is no way.

3. Make Crooked Places Straight for the Lord

The Bible tells us that everyone has faith (Romans 12:3), but not everyone has great faith. It takes time to develop great faith. Nevertheless, a doubtful heart must have a straight path of determination for God and righteousness sketched out for it.

Double-minded men are strangers to the God of truth. We must believe that the Lord will make a way. He has already done much more. He has made our crooked places straight by redeeming our past, for He gave His life for us while we were still in sin.

4. Make Rough Places Smooth

The Lord has made our rough places smooth; He has forgiven our sins and redeemed us from the law’s curse. He no longer finds us guilty of sin. Therefore, by faith, we must remove the stumbling blocks of sin and uproot the thorns and briers of rebellion in our hearts. When our Lord returns for us, He must not find marshy ways and rocky places in our hearts.

The Lord Will Provide All Your Needs

Philippians 4:19 says, “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” This is a promise we can hold onto. It is by Christ Jesus; through Him, we have the grace to do that which is good, and through Him, we must expect the reward of it. Not of debt but of grace. The more we do for God, the more we are indebted to him because we receive more from him. Let this promise of provision from God reassure you and strengthen your faith.

I want to pray for anyone who is experiencing any form of lack. Whether your lack is money, companionship, or anything in between, I want you to agree with me in prayer that God will make a way for you in whatever situation you need Him.

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, I pray for everyone who has read this blog and received Your words. I pray that You will smooth every valley, mountain, crooked place, and rough place in their lives.

Help us, dear God, to change our view of You. We have felt Your love and compassion, like when we lost a loved one, when we were hungry, when You provided a meal, and when the check came on time. Therefore, we know and believe that You care for us.

I pray that everyone reading these words will see You as the Good God that You are, not the harsh, strict tyrant they may think You are. I pray that they will prepare a way for You in their hearts, that they may intimately commune with You as a Friend. Provide for them whatever they need so that they will know for themselves that we serve a God who will make a way. In Jesus’

He is the WAY-MAKER! According to Scripture, we are admonished to cast all our cares on Him: “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you”(1 Peter 5:6-8). John said like this: “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me”(John 14:6).
