Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior,
Who daily bears our burdens.
— Psalm 68:19 NIV

There were many times when I felt completely alone, carrying the heavy weight of life’s burdens. In those moments, it seemed as though the Lord had left me to struggle on my own. I was bearing my troubles without His help. Yet, I have come to realize that these are simply feelings. The truth of God’s Word teaches us to walk by faith, not by what we see or feel. Even when our emotions suggest otherwise, faith reminds us that God is present and caring for us. He carries our burdens through every difficulty, never leaving us to bear them alone.

The Lord’s Role in Carrying Our Burdens

Jesus taught His disciples a profound lesson about following Him and the nature of discipleship. He said, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me” (Matthew 16:24). In this statement, Jesus emphasized the importance of self-denial and a willingness to carry one’s own cross as part of truly following Him.

Further, Jesus offered reassurance by declaring that His yoke is easy and His burden is light (Matthew 11:30). This promise comforts and assures us that the Lord does not leave us to carry our burdens alone. Instead, He shares in our struggles, making the weight of our burdens lighter. By choosing to carry the cross, we join ourselves to Jesus. This connection means that we do not bear life’s challenges in isolation. Because Jesus is with us, He lightens our burdens, giving us the strength and support we need as we follow Him.

We are soldiers in training, and we must trust the training if we are to be victorious. When we encounter times of struggle, we can rely on the truth that God is with us. His comfort and aid are always available, ensuring that we are not left to carry the weight of life’s burdens alone.

Dear God, I trust that my life is in Your hands, and that You are carrying the weight of my burdens. They are too heavy for me, and I cannot bear them alone.
