Relationships play a crucial role in our happiness, but can also present challenges and uncertainties. It’s common for individuals to encounter difficulties in building healthy relationships with others, highlighting that this is a shared experience. Importantly, many believe that God designed us for social interaction, which implies that fostering positive relationships is foundational to our nature. Moreover, these healthy bonds often reflect our relationship with God, emphasizing the significance of nurturing personal and spiritual connections.
Sin fundamentally disrupted the natural order of God’s creation, affecting various relationships, both among humans and between humans and God. This disruption harmed the communion that God intended in these connections. However, God, in His omnipotence, devised a plan to restore the original design for human relationships. God restored this communion through His Son’s life, crucifixion, death, burial, and resurrection.
God exonerates us through our unwavering faith in His Son. This faith is not passive, but an active substance that empowers us to restore God’s intended order of relationships. God has given us tools found in the Bible and His Holy Spirit to help us better relate to each other. These gifts strengthen our bond with our heavenly Father, giving us hope and the power to mend broken relationships.
What does the Bible say about relationships?
When God created the first man, He immediately noted that he was lonely. God said, “It isn’t good for man to be alone; I will make a companion for him, a helper suited to his needs” (Genesis 2:18 TLB). Thus, we know God intended for us to thrive in healthy relationships.
“The Bible emphasizes love, respect, and faithfulness in relationships. Ephesians 4:2-3 encourages humility, gentleness, patience, and bearing with one another in love, aiming for unity and peace. It highlighted the importance of commitment and treating others with kindness and respect.”

Ties with Family and Friends
God emphasizes the importance of family unity in Proverbs 17, verses 6 and 17. He designed us to cultivate deep and meaningful connections with our loved ones and friends, highlighting that these relationships are vital for our well-being and personal growth.
Grandparents are proud
of their grandchildren,
and children should be proud
of their parents.
A friend is there to help,
in any situation,
and relatives are born
to share our troubles.
— Proverbs 17:6,17 CEV

“Two can accomplish more than twice as much as one, for the results can be much better. If one falls, the other pulls him up; but if a man falls when he is alone, he’s in trouble.”
— Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
Our Association with God
Our connection with God is the most thrilling and vital relationship in our lives! Imagine a powerful bond that inspires us to pour our love and service into the world around us. When we truly embrace this divine love, our actions become vibrant expressions of our profound connection with God. It’s an exhilarating journey that makes us feel cherished and valued, igniting a fire within us to reflect that love in everything we do!

“One of the religion scholars came up. Hearing the lively exchanges of question and answer and seeing how sharp Jesus was in his answers, he put in his question: “Which is most important of all the commandments?
“Jesus said, ‘The first in importance is, ‘Listen, Israel: The Lord your God is one; so love the Lord God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence and energy.’ And here is the second: ‘Love others as well as you love yourself.’ There is no other commandment that ranks with these.”
— Mark 12:28-31
Why does God want a relationship with sinful people?
According to the Bible, particularly in Revelation 4:8, God is described as holy. This designation indicates that God is set apart, distinct, and unique from all of creation. However, this does not suggest that God lacks compassion or emotion. In fact, emotions are essential for forming relationships, and the Bible teaches that God embodies love, demonstrating a fullness of emotion in His interactions with humanity.
“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”
— Genesis 1:27 [NIV]
God created us in His image, which means we share certain character traits that reflect those of our Creator. However, while we possess similarities to God, it is important to recognize that God is fundamentally different from us due to His holiness. In contrast, sin affects human nature. Despite this difference, it is significant to note that God’s love for humanity remains profound and unwavering.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”
— John 3:16-17 [NIV]
How can I develop a personal relationship with God?
To enter into a personal relationship with God, you must acknowledge that Jesus is the doorway to God.
“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
— John 14:6 NIV
Accessing God is contingent upon following His word, emulating the example set by Jesus, and placing trust in the merits of our Lord Jesus Christ. In this context, Jesus serves as a leader for those who are confused, a guide for the lost, a teacher for the uninformed, and the ultimate example set by God.
To engage effectively in a relationship with God, one must recognize that Jesus embodies the truth. The Bible identifies Him as the source of truth. But what exactly is truth? Truth is the accurate representation of reality. Within the framework of the Bible, the Jewish ceremonies are mere shadows. In contrast, the life and teachings of Jesus embody the core truth. While individual interpretations of the Bible may be elaborate, the doctrines presented by Jesus align with the actual realities of God’s governance.
Lastly, you must agree with Jesus when He said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
As Christians, we are granted incredible favor with God and an amazing connection to His throne through the power of prayer! But here’s the best part: we can only access all these blessings through the incredible merits of Jesus Christ. Without Him, we are completely lost in the mysteries of God. But fear not! Jesus is our perfect guide! By our very nature, we’re imperfect and sinful, but His grace offers us boundless forgiveness. We may be blind to the truth, but only through Jesus can we truly see! Let’s celebrate this extraordinary gift and embrace the life-changing journey He offers.
