“Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven.”

In Hebrews 12:26, God proclaimed that He will once again shake the earth—a divine shaking that extends beyond our world to the very cosmos itself. This shaking is a significant and transformative event that will affect all aspects of our lives. God is causing a profound upheaval. Everything that can shake will shake. God will shake people, their money, principalities, powers, the rulers of darkness, and the spiritual hosts of wickedness in high places. God will shake everything. Indeed, even the elect will feel the tremors of this momentous event. In this great shaking, only what is unshakeable will endure.

Unshakeable is that which has roots in God’s eternal truths, such as His love, His promises, and His salvation. Moreover, these unshakeable things are the foundations on which we can build our lives. We know they cannot be shaken. If you trust God, get ready to rise above the chaos by proclaiming His truth. His truth is unshakeable.

God has chosen us (those who accept and trust Him without reserve). When He chose us, God made us a royal priesthood and a holy nation—His treasured possession. The Creator has designed us to declare His glorious praises, having called us out of the darkness of sin into His marvelous light of love, truth, and redemption (1 Peter 2:9). This shaking carries a vital message for us.

Shakable Things

Shakable things refer to aspects of life that are subject to change and variation. This category encompasses nearly everything we encounter in life. Reliance on such unstable elements can lead to dissatisfaction or insecurity. In this context, the emphasis is on the importance of placing trust in a stable foundation, specifically in God. Challenges often arise to dismantle these shaky foundations in our lives. These challenges prompt us to reconsider what we depend on for security and fulfillment.

Many people tend to build their lives around elements that can easily change. These include economic conditions, social dynamics, political systems, career stability, and personal relationships. All of these are inherently unstable because they are influenced by external factors. Recognizing the transient nature of these “shakable” aspects can help guide you toward a deeper understanding of God. He is a more enduring source of strength and support. To survive this shaking, you must not allow Satan to break your relationship with God. You must be as anchored as a palm tree, able to bend and sway, without breaking.

Your Salvation Cannot be Shaken

God is speaking to us today through His Son, His Word, and His wondrous works in the world. But are we listening? God shook things up at Mount Sinai and judged those who refused to hear His voice. How much more accountable are we today, who have experienced the blessings of the New Covenant grace?

You are not standing on the holy ground of Mount Sinai, where the people saw God as terrifying. You are standing at the foot of the cross, trusting in the worth of Jesus’ blood. As a result, the rise and fall of the stock markets cannot alter your standing with Him. When you know that you are a child of God and that God is your heavenly Father, you will be able to survive the shaking. No circumstance can ever change that.

Nothing Can Separate You from the Love of Christ

Another permanent blessing that cannot be shaken is the love of Christ. He is the only one who is both God and man. He loves you, and nothing can affect that. We are blessed, not stressed. Whatever troubles come our way, let us show the invisible forces of darkness that we have authority over all their power; therefore, we are not afraid. We are not little children, but sons and daughters of the living God. Can anything separate us from Christ’s love? Can trouble, problems, or persecution separate us from His love? If we have no food or clothes, or face danger or even death, will that separate us from His love?

Jesus Christ provides us with the blessing of salvation. It is easy to feel devastated when witnessing the rapid and unsettling changes happening in the world. Yet, amid all the chaos, some things cannot be shaken but remain steady. Salvation is one of those things. When we see the news or read a headline story, we observe firefighters, police officers, and everyday citizens risking their lives to save others. We see salvation played out every day and often overlook what it truly means to be saved from destruction and death.

That’s what Jesus did for you: He rescued you. Jesus didn’t only rescue you from death and hell; He also saved you from sickness, disease, anxiety, addiction, and anything that comes against you. By faith, with patience, continue to stand firm as you navigate these tumultuous times. Remember, only things that cannot be shaken will remain.
