“ To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy.”
— Jude 24 NIV
Following Christ is like walking. Occasionally, when we walk, we misstep. We don’t fall, only slip. But God can keep you from stumbling into sin, and all because the Lord saves, keeps, and satisfies. Amid the temptations of the world, you should have no fear of trouble. God alone can preserve you from the viral outbreak of sin and keep you from slipping into any error that might be damaging to your soul. The phrase “to keep from stumbling” means to preserve oneself from falling into sin and from surrendering to temptation. The word used is aptaistous. The word appears nowhere else in the New Testament. It means “not stumbling” as of a horse; “without falling into sin, blameless.”
In some ways, the path to heaven is safe, but in other ways, there is no road as dangerous. It is plagued with difficulties. If it were not for grace, one misplaced step, and we would surely stumble and fall. Truly, only God can keep you safe on this slippery path. Without Him, we would soon give up. However, God can keep you from falling.
Our God is Capable
We are like children, taking our first steps on the road of faith leading to heaven. Our delicate knees can scarcely support our weight. Our frail and cumbersome bodies often leave us feeling tired and weak. On the best roads, we soon get exhausted. We stumble even on the flattest roads. Not to mention that an offensive word can easily wound us and cause us to fall. But our God keeps us from falling.
The road to heaven is rough, and we are weak. In addition, our enemy, the devil, waits in ambush and rushes upon us when we least expect them. But even in the face of the toughest enemy, our God can keep us from stumbling.
Think how prone we are to sin, how apt to choose danger, how strong our tendency to cast ourselves and others down. Our heavenly Father watches over us from day to day! If you trust Him, God will hold your hand and keep you from stumbling into danger, pride, and self-righteousness.
Let us praise God today for His grace, mercy, love, and His ability to keep us from slipping out of His hand.

Amen 🙏 We are weak, but God’s grace holds us steady. He alone keeps us from stumbling and carries us safely to His glory.
Amen.
