Conquer Your Giants with Faith in the Rock

Featured Post Image - Conquer Your Giants with Faith in the Rock

No matter how big your giants are, by faith, they will fall if you put your faith in the Rock. I am sure you have heard the story of David and Goliath and how the shepherd boy brought him down with a rock. But did you know giants still exist? Our giants may not be flesh and blood however, they are just as threatening. But no matter how threatening, by faith, your giants will fall if you only consider the Rock.

Goliath was more than nine feet tall. He wore a bronze helmet, a two-hundred-pound coat of mail, and bronze leggings. He carried a bronze javelin several inches thick, with a twenty-five-pound iron spearhead, and his armor-bearer walked ahead of him with a huge shield (1 Samuel 17:4-7 TLB). Goliath was frightening to behold.

For forty days, this terrifying giant threatened the Israelites, trying to drag them into a fight. However, David does not consider Goliath’s size; he only considers the Rock in his sling. The men of Israel quickly lost sight of their God. The longer they looked at Goliath, the bigger he appeared to them. Fear caused them to forget everything that God had ever done for them. They forgot how God had miraculously delivered them from slavery. They did not consider the Rock from which they drank in the desert.

Believe God

Your giants may not look like Goliath, but they are just as frightening. When the doctor gives you an unfavorable diagnosis, like cancer, it can potentially become your giant. The more you look at it, the bigger it will manifest itself. If you continue to gaze at it, it won’t be long before the giant — whatever it is — will appear bigger than life. Anything that big will strike fear in your heart, and you can never defeat what you fear. But when you know the truth, you will not be afraid.

Despite its size, your giant will fall if you consider the Rock. Jesus is our Rock. Therefore, we never have to fear. Remind yourself today that you can do all things through Christ (Philippians 4:13). So when your giant comes to afflict you with an addiction or a disease, reach into your bag of spiritual weapons and pull out the one weapon that never misses its target — Jesus, your Rock. I assure you that if you consider the Rock, by faith, your giant will fall.

Father, I thank You for revealing to me that Jesus is the only Rock that I will ever need, for He is the Rock of my salvation. Grant me this day, the courage to stand against the thing that I fear the most. And by faith, today my giant will fall simply because I have considered the Rock.

Beverley says:

Amen. When my heart is overwhelmed lead me to the Rock that is higher than I.

Amen, Beverly. Jesus is the only Rock we will ever need.
