For forty days, this terrifying giant threatened the Israelites and tried to draw them into battle. David, however, did not focus on Goliath’s size.

David considered the Rock in his sling and trusted God. The men of Israel lost sight of their Lord because they kept staring at Goliath. The longer they looked, the larger he seemed.

Fear made them forget how God had delivered them from slavery and sustained them in the wilderness. In the same way, faith in the Rock helps you overcome fear with faith when fear tries to magnify the giants in your life.

Your giants may not look like Goliath, but they can feel just as intimidating. A difficult diagnosis, financial pressure, family problems, or emotional pain can quickly become a giant in your mind.

The more you stare at the problem, the bigger it appears. Fear grows when you fix your eyes on the giant instead of on God.

But when you know the truth of God’s Word, you can stand in peace and confidence. Faith in the Rock keeps your heart steady. It reminds you that Jesus is greater than every giant you face.

In this age of deception, many believers feel surrounded by giants. But you do not have to live in fear.

Jesus is our Rock. These essential ingredients for stronger faith give you the courage to resist every attack of the enemy.

Whether your giant is addiction, sickness, discouragement, or uncertainty about the future, Christ remains your sure foundation. Remind yourself that you can do all things through Christ, who strengthens you.

A Prayer for Faith in the Rock

Before you pray, take a moment to place your fear, burden, or battle before the Lord and remember that Jesus is your unshakable Rock.

Father, I thank You for revealing to me that Jesus is the only Rock I will ever need. He is the Rock of my salvation. Grant me the courage to stand against the thing I fear most. By faith, today my giant will fall because I have considered the Rock. Above all, let my faith in the Rock be unwavering.
