We must never forget that God is the source of our provisions. God alone gives the power to get wealth.
The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, ‘Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: When you come into the land which I give to you, and reap its harvest… You shall eat neither bread nor parched grain nor fresh grain until the same day that you have brought an offering to your God; it shall be a statute forever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.’
Four hundred years before this, God delivered the family of Jacob from famine through his son, Joseph. God promised Abraham, Jacob’s grandfather, that he would become a mighty nation. So, Jacob’s descendants multiplied and became the nation of Israel. At this point, recognizing that God is the primary source of their provision was crucial because they were enslaved people in Egypt, where they would serve in bondage to Pharaoh for four hundred years. Then, in a moment of divine intervention, God sent them a deliverer, Moses, who would lead them to freedom.
God Is Our Supply
Since God sent Moses to deliver them, He was preparing them to trust Him for their provision. As enslaved people, Israel had trusted Pharaoh for everything. God established celebrations and offerings to remind them that He would be their provision. This was to ensure that they understood God as the source of their provision. But because of their unbelief, they would have to wait another forty years (Numbers 14).
Again, Moses reminded the people: “Beware that you do not forget the Lord your God… when you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gained me this wealth’” (Deuteronomy 8:11-18). This reminder is not just a caution, but a key to enlightenment and gratitude in our lives.
God knows we are prone to forget Him when things are going well. We often overlook that God is the ultimate source of our provision and gives us the power to acquire wealth. It’s crucial to remember and trust God. So today, take a moment to thank God for His provision. Remember that it is God who gives you the power to acquire wealth. Therefore, you should never worry about tomorrow.
Lord, I pray that You will always remind me by Your Holy Spirit that You are the source of my provision and all good things that appear in my life. Clearly, God is the source of our provision and blessings. I pray that You will keep me in the place of humility for as long as I may serve You; so, today, I take a moment to thank You, Father, for Your provision in my life and the lives of my family members. Let it be done to me according to my faith; in Jesus’ name, I pray. AMEN.
