“Joseph knew his brethren, but they did not know him.”
— Genesis 42:8 AMPC
Jesus is our kindred Redeemer, and He knows each of us intimately. In Genesis 42:8, Joseph recognized his brothers before they recognized him. This scene points to a deeper spiritual truth: Christ knows us completely, even when we do not yet fully recognize Him.
He is our heavenly Joseph and compassionate King. One day, every heart will stand before Him. The question is not whether He will recognize us. The question is whether we are growing in knowing Jesus today.
Knowing Jesus Begins with Being Known
Long before we understood who Jesus is, He knew us and loved us deeply. He saw our sin, sorrow, confusion, and need for mercy. Yet His love did not turn away.
Even when we wandered in ignorance, our Redeemer pursued us with compassion. He knew our burdens, and still He bore our burdens. He gave Himself for our deliverance. Through Him, we can draw near to God with faith and confidence.
As we awaken to His enduring love, we no longer approach Him as strangers. We come as beloved members of His family.
In quiet reflection, prayer, and sincere seeking, we begin to notice His presence woven through our days. The distance in our hearts begins to dissolve. Recognition grows into relationship.
Knowing Jesus is not merely learning about Him. It is receiving His love, trusting His grace, and walking with Him in grateful fellowship.
Lord Jesus, help me see You more clearly. Teach me to know You more deeply. Help me recognize Your love, trust Your grace, and draw nearer each day. Strengthen my faith so my life reflects the joy of being fully known and fully loved by You. Amen.
