Seek God’s Guidance Before You Decide
Before you rush into a decision, pause and ask the Lord what you should do. David made a habit of seeking God’s guidance before taking action. His dependence on the Lord was not a one-time moment of faith. It was a consistent pattern in his life.
In 2 Samuel 5, David conquered Jerusalem. He also faced opposition from the Jebusites, who trusted in their stronghold. After God gave David victory, another threat came.
David could have depended on his past success. He could have relied on military experience or personal confidence. Instead, he stopped and asked the Lord for direction.
His example reminds us of an important truth. Yesterday’s victory does not replace today’s need for God’s wisdom.
Continual Dependence on God
Do you ask the Lord about the matters of your daily life? David did. David did not assume that what worked before would work again. He sought the Lord’s counsel. He listened for His direction. Then he moved forward in obedience.
We can follow that same pattern. We can bring our choices, uncertainties, plans, and concerns before God.
Think about the decisions you face at work. Think about the challenges in your relationships and the everyday moments when you must choose how to respond.
A quiet pause to seek God’s guidance can change your perspective. It can also protect you from relying only on your own understanding.
Whether you are beginning a new project, having a difficult conversation, or facing a recurring problem, ask the Lord what you should do. Put your trust in the Lord, and God will deliver you.
When you invite God into every part of your journey, you can move forward with wisdom, peace, and faith.
Dear God, thank You for loving me and guiding me. Help me ask You for direction before I make decisions. Teach me to trust Your wisdom more than my own understanding. Give me peace, courage, and faith to follow Your way each day. Amen.
